The Drop Off
This cliff is not somewhere a kit would want to go exploring. After a very steep slope downward, comes The Drop Off. A dead tree lays on the very edge. No cat truly knows how high it is, but it is certainly dangerous. From the top of this cliff you can see the pool at the bottom, and a spectacular view. It is as if you can see for miles from this one little perch. On the bright side of things, many types of prey live near The Drop Off, and if your careful about not falling off, then you will come back to camp jaws stuffed with mice, voles, and other animals. Legend has it that the great Riverstar fell off this cliff, and was miraculously swooped up by an eagle, who placed him nicely back to safety. Riverstar asked, "Why do you save me, when my species has killed yours as long as anyone can remember?" The eagle replied, "No animal should sit and watch when they can do something about it, even if it is an enemy." At first the great leader did not understand what the bird was saying, but after some thought, he realized that the eagle was not just going to sit and watch him fall to his death when he could fly over and save him. This story is foretold from generation to generation as an explanation why StoneClanners do not hunt the eagles that fly over their territory.
