Feline sat, ringed tail curled around tawny paws and intense golden-green gaze locked on the towering oak which stood only a couple fox lengths away, it's image a one of pure power and somehow wisdom. The mightly branches were spread far and wide, seeming to touch the sky. To be so large it had to be ancient, that she knew, and even if it couldn't speak, it had wisdom unmatched.
Mind drifted through the past before finally resting on her last attempt to climb the mighty tree. The leopard-like feline had climbed a good distance before deciding she'd try again another day since hunting for her clan, no, her family, that's what the clan was to her, had been needed first, and what the clan needed, the clan would get before her own goals were met.
Today was that day. The day she'd climb the tree, and reach the top, or try until she did so. This would be the day she set her own mental record. Sure, plenty of other had reached the top, but she hadn't, and it'd be a great accomplishment in her mind. Not that she was overly confident; she was simply determined to reach her own goals in life and nothing or no one would stop her. It was her life and she'd live it to it's fullest.
Leopardheart's claws unsheathed, lower half rose from the sitting position, the tall feline taking a few long-strided steps forward, narrowing the distance between herself and the tree. The spotted she-cat lowered, ears laying flat and slender muscles tensing. Then she launched forward. The feline's front legs pushed her off slightly before the powerful hind ones kicked off, sending the feline soaring.
Pads hit the wood of the tree, a few tail lengths up, dangerous claws swiftly sinking into the bark to get a frim grip. The leap had given her a nice start on the climb, killing a few lengths before she had truely even got started. Leopardheart pulled one paws from the bark, moving it higher, followed by another, and another, and then the last. The movements were swift, steady, and careful, seeming to be planned moments before done.
Soon the feline was making good progress, finding a certain rhythm in the climbing. A sturdy branch came into view. The feline focused her sharp gaze on it, dircting herself towards it. Ashera she-cat finally found herself close enough, releasing one paw and reaching towards the branch. Her claws hooked it. Another front paw released, also moving for the branch. Soon the feline had pulled herself onto it.
Leopardheart's belly pressed to the bark spread across the branch for a moment before she pushed herself upward, rising on carefully placed paws. A gingerly step was taken forward towards the edge of the branch. Soon another step. Within a few steps, the leopard-like feline was content and sat down, tail falling over the edge, while paws placed themselves perfectly on the branch to keep her balance.
Lifting a paw, the she-cat licked it with her sand paper tongue, intense gaze focusing on what she could see from her position. Even though she wasn't even past halfway up the view was amazing. A purr rippled through her throat contently as she remained on the branch, casually licking a paw and gazing out into the distance through the surrounding branches.
