Name:
Vinepaw
Age:
7 moons
Gender:
Tom
Clan:
SwiftClan
Rank:
Apprentice
Appearance:
Vinepaw has the appearance of many in his clan, small and lithe. His pelt is the color of a shadow, and the way he walks, or I should say stalks, it makes him look like one. He is usually found sitting in an almost crouched position, as if observing something while trying to hide, even in his own camp. Even at his young age Vinepaw is oddly fit, hardly out of breath or tired after long treks in the forest. His lithe form may look as though he is built for simply running, and not fighting, but you’d be surprised to see the rippling muscles that lay beneath his pelt. Endurance and defense are the two main viewpoints of Vinepaw’s battle technique.
Many say that this tom could’ve been a RiverClanner, and this is entirely possible, as back when the four original clans failed the clans separated, only to be regrouped many generations later, as the four clans they are now. The reason for this is his strange slick pelt, as only its light gray darkens when he steps out of water, and it is dry within only a few minutes. Then again, others may find that he looks more as an ancestor of WindClan, with his smooth agile build and quick paws. Even ThunderClan and ShadowClan show their traces in this tom; his stealth from ShadowClan and his stalking figure from ThunderClan. The one clan that Vinepaw could never have been a desendant from was SkyClan, for neither hard pads nor high jumping skills are found in this apprentice. This proves he would never survive as a StoneClanner.
Although Vinepaw’s build may make him look much younger than he is, his face makes him look much older. Bright yellow-green eyes stand out like bright florescent gems, looking as though they hold much more experience than a 7 moon old cat. His face is stern looking, and because his pelt lightens at his muzzle it looks as though it has grayed with age. Vinepaw seems to have not grown into his ears, their pristine hearing ability easily shown off by their huge size.
On a completely different note, this tom has paws lighter than a half eaten mouse, and just about one forth the size. Dark ebony claws slide neatly out of their sockets when needed, glinting threateningly at whatever enemy is unlucky enough to get close to them. When hissing Vinepaw’s pearl white teeth seem to stand out more than his bristling fur or unsheathed claws, and heed my warning, stay far from them.
Personality:
Vinepaw is like a shadow, just as mysterious and even harder to keep track of. With a fiery temper and the sharp tongue to match, his attitude makes it clear that he has to be somehow related to Crowfeather of the ancient WindClan. Though only knowing the hero by a few stories told by the elders of SwiftClan, Vinepaw is proud to be called his nickname ‘Crowpaw’, even though it isn’t for the best reason. After that wasn’t the WindClanner’s best trait. The apprentice does show other sides of Crowfeather, however, such as his politeness towards she-cats and amazing loyalty toward his clan. Ever since he was old enough to think about it Vinepaw has wanted to be a fantastic warrior, to earn the respect of his clan and one day lead it. The only competition the tom seems to have found for him to achieve this, would be his denmate, Huntpaw, for reasons unknown to many. Vinepaw doesn’t think of him as just ‘there’, but as smart and calculating, just planning his takeover.
At times this tom is seen as a disrespectful mousebrain, but truly both assumptions are wrong. When around warriors he is polite and civil, always doing as he is told with no questions asked. The medicine cat is the heart and soul of SwiftClan, in Vinepaw’s opinion, so he respects her as well. The only cats he has trouble being kind to are those toms around his age. For some reason a politeness towards she-cats came in his odd personality, but any other apprentice would have to become good friends with him before being able to get out of his strange dislike. Vinepaw has a soft spot for kits, tom or she-cat, but once those toms hit six moons they automatically become competition. He isn’t really sexist. He knows that she-cats can become leaders just as well as toms, but for some reason his instinct is to become territorial. ((*thinks of beta fish* xD))
Vinepaw seems to be a well rounded cat in training, for his lithe build and agility make him a prime hunter, and endurance making him a fair fighter as well. No challenge will go unnoticed to this tom, and he doesn’t think to kindly to someone turning their backs to him. HE ends the argument, THEY do not. To some warriors and older apprentices this could be seen as immaturity, but Vinepaw is just too hotheaded and stubborn to back down. As a kit this has gotten the tom into trouble several times, and someone needs to knock into his thick skull that he will never become leader if he doesn’t grow out of it. Hopfully the tom’s loyalty to the clan will come before his temper in the end.
History:
Vinekit was indeed a great descendent of Crowfeather, though no cat knows this and it cannot be proven. The clans having split up so long ago not even this cat’s great great grandfather would remember back far enough to the great journey, when the clans left their home near the sundrown place and changed their names to StoneClan, SwiftClan, SilentClan and ShadeClan. Then just one generation ago came yet another journey, and a few of the elders had experienced it as kits or apprentices. One of these elders had a grandmother whom was a WindClan cat; Breezepaw’s daughter. This same elder had a kit as well, Gorseflame, and then came Vinekit, named after the odd streak of green in his yellow eyes. (Yes confusing, I know. Read again, this time, SLOWLY xD)
After Vinepaw was born, Gorseflame and Robinheart found it much harder to parent their single kit then had been expected. He was very unruley, constantly doing SOMETHING to cause trouble, and if the two let him out of their sight for three heartbeats some warrior would come with Vinekit by the scruff, complaining of a messed up nest. The tom loved adventure, and was more independent than the others his age. No companion was needed when causing trouble.
One particular time, Vinekit went missing. The clan searched frantically around the territory for the 3 moon old kit, but after a full day and no sign of him, the only warriors left were Gorseflame and Robinheart, and they too headed back to camp, disappointed. Two days later, the scent of a loner was found on the territory. As a patrol of cats went out to drive it away, they found an old, grumpy loner that dropped Vinekit at their feet. The loner claimed the kit was found wandering around outside his den, clear on the other side of the clan’s territories. To this day it remains a mystery how the young tom managed to get over there, and Vinepaw was too young to remember it that vividly. Or, so he says.
