Name: Duskstar
Age: 53 Moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: StoneClan
Rank: Leader
Appearance: Duskstar has short, thick and soft fur, keeping him warm in even the coldest leafbare. It is tangled with the usual tabby markings, a light brown as the base color, and a darker brown, almost black, for the stripes. Those stripes, oddly enough, are the most interesting thing about the StoneClan leader. They start thin at the face, piercing across it like lightning, then get slightly thicker and more unique as they come down his back. This cat's underbelly is white, as are the front part of his paws.
Duskstar has a round and handsome face. His muzzle is white with a line of very light ginger coming across the bridge of it, and ending in a pink nose outlined in black. The tom's ears are brown with no stripes, and have white fur sticking out of them as if birds had made a home inside with their tail feathers sticking out. He has many whiskers, and they are much longer than most, because he needs them, as do all StoneClanners. Without their keen sense of direction, they would never be able to guide themselves and others through the tunnels in their home. On another note, these particular cat’s eyes are a dull yellow, full of wisdom and experience, love, and scars of the past. Other than these few things shone through his eyes, the StoneClan leader rarely shows emotions through them. On a normal day they look just as blank as the rocks and boulders of his territory.
Duskstar's build is very normal for a tomcat, as he has rippling muscles, but there is one thing that sets him apart from others. His short and stubby legs. He absolutely hates them, and for a good reason. They keep him from running fast, for one, and he can only do well in battle if he is close enough to strike, which is never good. They do give him one advantage, however, and that is strength. If the StoneClan leader gets close enough to get a few good blows, he could easily shatter a cat and send them running back to their mothers. His hooked black claws and ivory teeth help him with this matter as well. Another thing that sets this particular tomcat apart from others is his tail. He doesn't have one. Ok, well, he does, but it is really small. Only about a mouse length long. This doesn't affect him as much as the stubby legs, but he did have trouble with balance for a while.
Personality: Honor and Respect. These were the two virtues Duskstar received the day he became a warrior, and he lives up to them every day.
Honor: This virtue greatly describes the StoneClan leader for many reasons. He never brags about his clan, for one. At gatherings he will modestly inform the others of any new warriors made, kits born, or apprentices made. When the leader has finished with news, he will step back politely and listen intently to what the other three leaders have to say. Because of his modesty, kindness, and heart, kits and apprentices often look up to him, but again, he would always claim that they like a different senior warrior better.
Another reason why this virtue describes Duskstar is because of his teachings to the younger cats. Remember the apprentices and kits that I was talking about? Well, he is always visiting the nursery to play with the kits or teach them new fighting moves to try on their siblings when in play. His belief is to start early with training, but he would never break the warrior code by starting one before six moons. After they are made apprentices, however, Duskstar cracks down on punishments. It seems weird, looking at the rest of his personality, but again, his belief is to start things early. So, if an apprentice or older kit does something wrong, he will punish them. Don't think of this as harsh. After all, all his punishments are fair and he has good intentions with them.
Respect: Duskstar has always been respectful, whether as a kit, apprentice, warrior, deputy, or even leader. Those who respected him, got respected back. This is where the apprentice/kit thing comes back in. If one of them is misbehaving, such as a kit sneaking a peek at a clan meeting, he will calmly walk over and talk to the kit in private. He will explain what they did wrong and that they need to correct it or their will be consequences. Duskstar doesn't just run over to the kit and start screaming at him in front of everyone. Even though that kit is much younger than him, he still treats him kindly, and with respect.
Duskstar also expects respect to him and others. If his apprentice is caught mouthing off to a warrior, he will get punished. If he is caught saying, "Wow this rabbit is dumb, it walked straight into my paws!" or something along those lines, he will get scolded and a warning, and if caught again, punished.
History: Duskkit was blessed with the perfect life. Perfect parents, perfect siblings, and born in a time when food was very plentiful. His mother, Iceshadow, was kind, yet strict, and taught this young cat maturity at a very young age. His siblings, Vixenkit and Sunkit were fun and playful, and the three were very close. Then disaster struck, and struck hard.
((Counting this as my RP sample)) -------------------------- Duskkit nudged his mother with one paw. “Iceshadow?” His meow shook as the young cat nuzzled up against her. She was cold. “Iceshadow please talk to me!” The tom was shaking now, his tiny limbs barely moving in the thin line of moonlight in the nursery. Soon he felt the warm pelt of another, and soon recognized the scent of his father, Chaosheart. Duskkit felt his father’s body rumble as the warrior spoke,
“She is gone.” Duskkit’s yellow eyes widened up at the warrior, “What do you mean, gone?” He whimpered. “She is dead! Now stop asking mousebrained questions and go to the medicine cat’s den with your siblings!” Chaosheart hissed angrily, teeth bared. “It can’t be true, it isn’t true, she is alive!” His tiny kit body shook as he nudged his mother once more, “Get up, Iceshadow, and show him you’re staying here with us!”
Duskkit’s father was silent.
“Come on, Duskkit.”
Duskkit turned around to find his older sister, Oakpaw, standing outside the nursery. Her eyes were filled with the same sadness that filled Chaosheart’s, and he could barely feel the apprentice guide him to the nursery, her tail on his shoulder. ----------------------------------- After the devastating blow of losing his mother, Duskkit found himself withdrawing from everything. He no longer played with his siblings, visited his father, or moved from the dark corner of the nursery. The only cat he would ever talk to was Oakpaw. She was kind to him, but never succeeded in bringing him away from the horrible depression he was in. This continued for the next two moons, when finally, the three siblings, Sunkit, Vixenkit and Duskkit were ready to be apprentices.
Now Duskpaw, the young tom found himself trying harder to get over his mother’s death. His mentor helped as well, having a good sense of humor and a happy go lucky outlook on life. Sunpaw and Vixenpaw had long gotten over Iceshadow, and were thriving in their apprenticeship, while Duskpaw struggled to learn the simplest hunters crouch. However, slowly but effectively, Marshfoot did win over his apprentice and taught him to be happy again.
Unfortunately, by now, Duskpaw and his siblings had grown farther and farther apart. Vixenpaw and Sunpaw stayed close, but whenever he came over to chat, it always seemed they stopped a conversation that they didn’t want him to hear. The result was simply sadness, the feeling of abandonment, and becoming closer to his mentor. After about 4 moons of this, Duskpaw finally got the courage to talk to his two siblings. He explained how he felt abandoned by them, and wanted to be friends again. The reaction he got was complete rejection. Sunpaw put in plain words how they thought he was being a kit all these moons, whining about their mother’s death, and how he would never be a good warrior. That he would never be tough enough. In the middle of their fight, an alarm call was heard from the front of camp, “Intruders!!!” Duskpaw barely had time to jump to his paws before a SilentClan warrior jumped at him. They were invading camp. The tom slashed and bit at this intruder before sending him yowling away.
After the battle, Duskpaw held his head high. He had fought well, and knew it. What he didn’t know, however, was the fact that he had many wounds, and all were bleeding freely. Before the young tom knew it, he was being rushed to the medicine cat’s den by his older sister, now Oakstripe. He was blacked out for two moons.
When those yellow eyes finally opened, they spotted a tortoiseshell she-cat, one that Duskpaw had never really paid much attention to. Her name was Larkpaw. After a loud (and high pitched) squeal from the cat, the medicine cat came running. Immediately after waking up, he was rushed outside for his own warrior ceremony. Those brilliant eyes that had been hidden for so long, now filled with pride and emotion as he was named Duskpelt. After the ceremony, the newly named warrior was taken back to the medicine cat’s den to visit his siblings. It turns out, they had been knocked out due to blood lose as well.
------------------------------------ “Sunpaw, Vixenpaw?” Duskpelt poked his head into the medicine cat’s den, wondering how he had missed his own siblings on the way out. Larkpaw was soon by his side, “No, its Vixenstripe now, and Suncall.” The tom whipped his head around to look at the younger cat, “Wh-what? Does that mean, that, they may not survive!?” The young tom knew that sometimes leaders made emergency ceremonies to older apprentices that may have died. His eyes widened in horror as Larkpaw nodded sadly. Duskpelt stayed in that den until they died, desperately wishing the three had made up. -------------------------------
Into the moons of warriorhood, Duskpelt found himself spending more and more time with Larkpaw. He stood next to her when her father and sister died, and was there when she was named Larkflight. Soon, the two realized their love for each other and decided to be mates. Duskpelt was 38 moons when he was named deputy. He was a respected warrior, and not one objected to the choice.
Life as deputy was difficult. It was leafbare, so hunting patrols had to be doubled, but the boarders still needed to be kept in check. Things got even more stressful when Larkflight died given birth to their litter of two, Shadowkit and Pebblekit. He felt as though, being their only living kin(besides Chaosheart), he should be constantly with him. This, obviously, didn’t exactly work. After a while Duskpelt began to trust their foster mother, Streamflow, and got back to his deputy duties, while still visiting his kits sometimes. He was named Duskstar at the age of 44 moons, and has tried his best to serve his clan well.
