Appearance:
Sparrowcall is a rather stunning cat, in both lithe form and wondrous pelt colors. She is a tortiseshell, a combo of black, brown, orange, and light gray dancing across her pelt like the forest she calls home. A white muzzle rests beneath a black nose and white whiskers. Across this cat's chest are stripes of black and orange, having a base color of what looks like a light gray. Three paws are as black as ShadeClan itself, while the last is bright orange, matching the tip of her tail. Her pelt is sleek and water resistant, though she is never really keen to go for a dip, and works wonders in Leafbare, being so thick. It can go days without grooming which is convenient for Sparrowcall, whom is always doing something with something green.
Though she was never really called a large she-cat, Sparrowcall makes it up with endurance. She can run to StoneClan and back without even losing her breath. Paws are small and dainty. Long legs rest beneath a slender body, a long tail showing that this medicine cat is pure lithe. Sparrowcall has always been a high jumper and nothing but a blur when running. Many say that she could have been a great warrior with those two traits. Her face is more soft than hard, with a sort of rounded jaw and soft green eyes. Simply looking at it will make you relax. Her ears rest above her eyes and turn slightly outward, rounded at the top. Solid ivory fangs are seen in a pink mouth. Claws are the same, white as newly fallen snow, and just as dangerous.
Personality:
Sparrowcall is known for her patience, but a fiery temper lies beneath it. She doesn't like mousebrains or stubborn warriors that think they don't need help. Once her patience wares thin, she is known to suddenly snap at a cat, this usually shocking them enough to shut up. No soft spot for kits lies in Sparrowcall’s heart. She will be kind to them, but won’t sit around trying to persuade them to eat the herbs she’s asked them to. Usually this cat will just walk away and leave that to the mother. It’s not her job to baby them, but to heal them.
A very strong opinion of this medicine cat is that she hates forbidden love. Disloyalty is something she feels strongly about, and if Sparrowcall find out that someone is in a forbidden love she will never trust them again. It takes a very long time for this cat to forgive. Anything that StarClan believes in is her belief as well, as her medicine cat duties always come first to her. Kits and mates don’t even come close to tempting. If she ever looks at the queen’s faces when their offspring are apprenticed, Sparrowcall will just shrug off the pride in that mother’s face, thinking about how the clan couldn’t be without her.
History:
Sparrowkit grew up in a large litter of 5, all of them surviving, which was good, though odd. She had three sisters, Quailkit, Serpentkit, and Fallingkit, and one brother, Graykit. For as long as she can remember, Sparrowkit’s best friend seemed to be Quailkit, the two never separating for anything. Her sister was the runt of the litter, and the most sickly, so if they ever played, it couldn’t be rough, and the two found themselves the outcasts of the litter, Serpentkit, Fallingkit, and Graykit running off to play alone while their sisters hung out in the Medicine Cat’s Den. Sparrowkit truly believes that watching Quailkit get healed was the thing that got her interested in going into the field, and one day she proved it.
It was a peaceful morning in ShadeClan, but when young Sparrowkit woke up she noticed something was wrong. As usual, Serpentkit, Fallingkit, and Graykit, were already outside playing, but Quailkit was strangely still. Worried, Sparrowkit ran to get Featherpelt, the clan medicine cat. Later she found out that her sister had stopped breathing while sleeping, and if Sparrowkit hadn’t mentioned it, Quailkit would no longer be with them. Not long after, all five kits were made apprentices, but only four were pursuing to be warriors.
Sparrowpaw loved being a medicine cat. The leaves and berries, and how they worked simply fascinated her, and Featherpelt was the best mentor you could’ve gotten. She watched from the sidelines as her siblings trained, and still got to see Quailpaw several times a day. (And not all because she was sick) Then, the first tragedy struck.
A mysterious disease began to plague ShadeClan. A sickness that neither she nore Featherpelt could figure out. It caused cats to get a terrible fever, vomit, and sometimes their eyes would ooze a strange white puss. The two watched helplessly as cats died on their watch, and Sparrowpaw was devastated when Quailpaw caught the sickness. She died not long after, and just as the apprentice was starting to get over it, she was left to care for her own mentor, whom was also sick due to this odd disease. Finally, after much heartache and pain for ShadeClan, SwiftClan’s medicine cat brought herbs that cured the sickness once and for all. But unfortunately it was too late for Featherpelt, who died just after given the miracle herbs. Sparrowpaw was named Sparrowcall and left to handle the clan alone, early.
Not long after this, ShadeClan went to war with StoneClan. There was much blood, and young Sparrowcall had a hard time keeping up with it all. She was able to save most of her clan, but soon Graypelt, Serpentfang, and Fallingfeather all died in battle. Being a medicine cat could never be so convenient, though, because now every time she visits StarClan, Sparrowcall gets to see her siblings and mentor. Even at times, when she is lonely, Quailpaw will visit her dreams, and the two sit and talk in the clouds all night. Truly the two have never stopped being friends.
